Texas
Bound
|

In 1995
the love of Old Time American and Celtic Music united Peggy
with several other musicians to form an Old-Time String Band
that would specialize in music of the Texas frontier, and together,
over the past 7 years, they have performed at the Dickens-On-The-Strand
festival in Galveston, the Houston Rodeo, and Folk Festivals
in Huntsville, Woodville, Goliad, Anahuac, Humble, Kerrville,
Brenham, and other venues in and around Houston, TX. For six
years they have been the "house band" for Country
Peddler Shows in Houston, Corpus Christi, Brenham, Conroe, Fredricksberg
and San Marcos. The band has produced one recording, Jes'
Playin' Folk , consisting of Old Time tunes that were popular
in the Texas of bygone days. Texas Bound includes hammer
dulcimer, mountain dulcimer, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, banjo
and bass, offering their audiences and exciting program of fiddle
tunes, gospel music and Celtic jigs & reels. Their performance
schedule includes the Country Peddler circuit, the Huntsville
(Texas) Friends of Folk Music, the Camp Street Cafe in Crockett
and the HAAMS Acoustic Showcase at Hickory Hollow restaurant
in the Houston Heights.

Music
of the British Isles ~ England, Ireland, Scotland & Wales
|
|
|
Waits were
itinerant musicians who sang and played music throughout merry
old England and across the British Isles. Many were employed
by royalty, a member of the nobility, or by a town to play for
public entertainment such as festivals, plays, processionals,
and even to assist the choristers in the service of the church.
They were in constant demand for weddings and social functions.
The custom of waits continues in Great Britain even today as
the strains of street musicians are heard during Advent and
Christmastime.
"The
Merry Waits of Windsor" play jolly music all year round
and the program includes such favorites as "In The Good
Ol' Summertime" and "Take Me Out To The Ballgame".
